I won’t put a list of bargain books here, because frankly, those change daily sometimes hourly.  Instead, this page is my personal list of where to get those bargain books.

  • Kindle Unlimited:  Okay, technically it’s not free but it is a bargain.  You don’t need a Kindle to take advantage.  Kindle Unlimited is like the Netflix DVD option, you can rent 10 out for as long as you want to (while you have the membership) and when you want new books you return the old ones.

  • WattPad.com: It’s a free site where authors can upload and readers can search through them for free. Sort of like shopping at Savers or Goodwill or that <$5 bin at a large discount store – lots of stuff but every so often you find a gem.
Funny enough, Wattpad authors seem to thrive on rejected werewolf mates, YA stories, and accidental pregnancies. Totally cliche, but so much fun. However, BEWARE! Many of the stories are not completed. Sometimes, you’re hoping the author will update and 6 months later still no update, and you realize the fun, entertaining book left you on the ultimate cliffhanger.
  • SwoonReads.com: I originally found this site from a Wattpad story, which continued in SwoonReads. There’s a limited amount of stories but I’m guessing it’s because these stories have to be COMPLETED before being submitted. Unfortunately, there’s no app yet, so it’s not as easily readable as Wattpad. But still, the positive side to it is that the stories are completed.
  • Literotica.com:  Seriously 18+ only.  Total smut site – with the crazy photos on the side, tons of banner pictures for porn/erotic chats, etc., but it’s a free site that believes in the power of free speech.  No pop-ups or crazy porn stuff that happens just for visiting.  It does have an extensive story category:  Romance.   Other crazy categories are offered on this site, but since this is a HEA Romance Review blog, I’ll stick to that one Romance category when writing reviews.

I haven’t yet tried fanfiction.com, booksie.com, or figment.com. Figment and FanFiction reminds me of Wattpad, so I’ll sort through it when I have more time.

Free books in paid book websites: iBooks, Amazon, Smashwords, etc. There’s usually a category that says “free reads” and there you go.
